JOIN US FOR A FUN DAY CREATING AND PLAYING WITH PUPPETS! LEARN TECHNIQUES YOU CAN APPLY IMMEDIATELY! Back by popular demand, this workshop will have everyone’s hands busy! Bring your own sock and any notions i.e. buttons, yarn, etc to supplement the materials HAPT will provide. After creating puppets and learning some puppeteering skills, we will spend the afternoon learning how to apply them to Play Therapy. Inga Park Okuna presented parts of this highly successful workshop several years ago. The puppets created at the previous puppet-making workshop have been used and loved by many and there have been numerous requests for an opportunity to create more. Evidence-based practices will be presented and resources will be provided. Inga Park Okuna has performed across the state at preschools and elementary schools with both private and non-profit/state agencies using homemade as well as commercial puppets. She trained puppeteers for the Kids on the Block, a puppet troupe that taught disability awareness. Her motivation for providing workshops for HAPT is to help therapists learn the magic of puppets—bringing them to life and as she says, “No more flapping mouths!” Research also supports the use of puppets in therapy and she would like to help therapists feel confident in their ability to use puppets in their work with children and families.
