Born
and educated in France, Marie-José is an Adult, Child and Family therapist
in private practice. She is a Registered Clinical Counselor, a Registered
Art Therapist, and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor both with the
Canadian and American Play therapy Association.
Marie-José
now celebrates over 35 years experience as a therapist. For the past 25
years she has been teaching her own approach to play therapy: Holistic
Expressive Play Therapy. She has been a frequent presenter and speaker at
International Conferences and Institutions including the Centre for Play
Therapy at the University of North Texas the therapeutic methods she has
developed, particularly on the topic of loss, trauma, abuse and neglect.
She
has shared her unique, innovative and constantly evolving methods with
thousands of therapists from all over the world. Marie-José is the founder
of the Centre for Expressive Therapy, located on Vancouver Island, B.C,
Canada, where, as well as seeing clients of all ages, she mentors and
offers healing retreats for helping professionals.

Theory, Principles, &
Interventions:
Dr. Dhaese will be discussing: theoretical considerations relating to
attachment and loss of primary attachment figures (through divorce, death,
foster care, adoption, hospitalization, and other traumas); stages of
grief/loss;
and, principles underlying expressive play therapy. She will include an
experiential
component for participants. |
Methods Used to Help Grieving
Children
at Different Stages:
Dr. Dhaese’s child centered approach will show participants different
expressive play therapy methods that can be used with children during the
early phase of grief, for intense painful feelings of despair in the form
of acute grief, and the later phase of the grief journey. She will include
a myriad of examples and interventions. |
All registration fees include:
validated parking at the hotel, continental breakfast, full lunch, and 6 Play Therapy CEU's per day.
